Our Mission

The Tin Pan Alley American Popular Music Project (TPAAPMP) promotes appreciation for the historic beginning of American popular music and the modern music business on and around West 28th Street in New York City.

We work to create and sustain a dynamic community of enthusiasts, supporters, and sponsors. We actively advocate for music and cultural literacy for the public at large, and we work to educate and inspire current and future musical artists.

The Songs Of Tin Pan Alley [Double CD]

In pursuing our goals, we tell the stories of the songwriters, music publishers, songs, and events that shaped the sound and industry of American popular music as the 20th Century began. These stories are conveyed in performances, presentations, tours, and in educational and community outreach. Our ultimate purpose is creating connection through the power of music - specifically, through this essential element of New York City and American cultural history: the music of Tin Pan Alley.
